Under the patronage and attendance of His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, the University's Deanship of Male Students' Affairs celebrated the 47th National Day. The University's Vice Chancellors, Deans, Department Heads, Centers and Departments' Directors, faculty and staff members as well as students attended the celebration.
The celebration started with reciting the National Anthem performed by the Military Music Band of Sharjah Police Sciences Academy simultaneous with the passing of a helicopter carrying the UAE's flag. Prof. Mahmoud Darabseh, Dean of Male Students' Affairs, gave a welcoming word during which he extended his sincere congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah, as well as their brothers the Rulers of the Emirates on this special occasion.
The Dean added that the University is proudly celebrating the first founders of the union to become a source of happiness and pride. They also celebrated the accomplishments of the UAE since its founding thanks to the wisdom of its leaders in all aspects: economic, health, education, social, and cultural. The UAE, he continued, now occupies a unique position regionally and international due to its international connections based on mutual respect.
Student Ali Hamid bin Lahej, President of the Students Union, gave a word during which he stressed the significance of the union and extending his thanks to the leaders of the UAE for their unceasing efforts in serving the country. Student Hamad Al Kindi performed a poem followed by national songs by student Majid Al Jinahi. Following the students' performances, the Mazareei Group gave some traditional performances. The celebration also featured performances by Al Dhaid Military School in a military act, and the Saudi Students' Club in a traditional show. This followed by the Deanship's students' flag performance and concluded with a recital by students Omar Al Masoud and Adel Al Raes. Attendees took a tour of the celebration's traditional corners and tents in which the University's colleges, departments, student union and clubs participated.
