With the goal of familiarizing its students, staff, and faculty members with the significance of work ethics and keeping professional standards in the financial sector, the Department of Finance and Economics – College of Business Administration at the University of Sharjah, arranged an interactive workshop titled: "Ethics and Professional Standards," by guest speaker Ted Stephenson, Executive Director at the CFA Society Emirates. The workshop aims to train students to make the right ethical decisions while working in the financial sector. Dr. Philip Molyneux, Dean of the College of Business Administration, and Dr. Atef Abdalla, Head of the Finance and Economics Department, as well as various department faculty, staff, and students attended the workshop.
Dr. Philip Molyneux introduced the workshop and talked about some ethical and professional issues in the financial sector and the significance of raising the ethical and professional level of people working in the field. The workshop included an interactive activity for students during which they were presented with some ethical issues and cases that they could encounter while working in the financial field and allowed the students to participate by making the ethically and professionally right decisions in each case.
Guest speaker, Mr. Stephenson, acquainted students with the CFA program and exam, which provides students with the opportunity to join an international community of CFA charter holders that makes them stand out in the financial employment sector and able to make the right ethical and professional decisions.
