His Highness Skeikh Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UoS), assured that the University of Sharjah (UoS) is the only provider of science and knowledge to UAE citizens in various cities and regions of the Emirate of Sharjah. It is the top university worldwide in terms of multiculturalism. The UoS has the largest and most important medical and healthcare complex in the region, and hosts continuous research and developmental projects to improve the quality of education and teaching.
His Highness gave his speech on Thursday morning during the graduation ceremony of 393 students of the first wave of the 18th batch of the fall semester of 2018 at UoS' campus hall, which was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
His Highness Ruler of Sharjah expressed his pride in graduating a new constellation of UoS students. H.H. said: "We live the feelings of pride and joy on every graduation semester in the UoS, as we witness this blessed group of knowledge seekers who achieved their scientific success. Our congratulations and commendations are not only directed to the graduating students and their parents; but also to ourselves. Your success, especially at such a blessed number, and the success of who graduated before you and will after you, is an indicator and an actual measurement of our success and the success of our efforts to build monuments of knowledge and science; a mission given to us by our religion, and a necessity emerging from our modern scientific, technological and developmental advancement, on the basis of the very civilization that we grew up in".
His Highness noted UoS' advancements and achievements in its scientific journey. He said: "Our happiness and yours constitute another dimension, as the UoS has succeeded this year in marking two critical achievements in terms of international standards of development. First, the UoS won during the past two weeks the first position State-wide and the 452nd worldwide according to GreenMetric; the world university ranking system, which ranks universities in the fields of sustainable development and adherence to standards of clean environment. The UoS established various types of tools, standards and goals in several academic programs and disciplines to fulfil requirements of improving its advancement worldwide".
"Furthermore, the UoS made its second achievement in the emirate and the region after it was ranked by world-renowned organizations QS and Times as one of the largest comprehensive and integrated universities locally and in the region in terms of scientific research. The organizations relied in their classification on the various scientific research works produced by the UoS during its long scientific journey. These research papers were produced by the faithful scientists, researchers and experts in the University of Sharjah (UoS), as part of its five-year strategic plan to improve UoS' position worldwide".
His Highness pointed out that all of this happened while the UoS remained faithful to nurturing its students' competencies to become highly-qualified human resources, able to cope with life's needs and the requirements of national and social development, until it became now one of the largest universities in the State.
H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi addressed the graduating students: "This is your university and what it will be in the near future. The UoS developed your knowledge and scientific competencies. Therefore, I urge you to engage your practical life - which I pray to be a blessed life - relying on Alla's blessings in all of life's matters. I encourage you to remain faithful to Allah in all areas of employment and to be completely confident with the knowledge, competencies and skills that you learned in your University; the edifice of knowledge which we have just mentioned its strength and privileges, and what it will become in the emirate, the region and the world – with Allah's will".
His Highness renewed his congratulation to the graduating students. He said: "Once again, I congratulate you and your parents on your success, wishing you the best in your life and career. I also wish to thank UoS' administration and members of its teaching body, who did a good job in educating and preparing you – with Allah's will - to cope with life's obstacles".
