Prof. Qutayba Hamid Al Heialy, Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Health Sciences and Dean of College of Medicine, inaugurated "Our Health is Our Responsibility" Open Day, which is organized by Health Services Administration Department at the University of Sharjah. The event aims at creating an opportunity for students to exchange ideas and present their creative activities between the different departments of the college.
During a course on hospital management, students at Health Services Administration Department explained how potential risk management is implemented at hospitals and how medical supplies are managed, imported, used and maintained. The Nursing Department overviewed blood glucose and cholesterol screening; while the Medical Diagnostic Imaging displayed a number of educational and recreational games that assist students in learning about the various disciplines of radiology, and the different bones in the human body. The Environmental Health Sciences Department gave an overview of the environmental risks that affect a person's life and health. Furthermore, the Physiotherapy Department gave a brief introduction about physiotherapy and its role in avoiding and the rehabilitation process concerned with a number of diseases. The Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Department outlined genetically modified foods and their harmful effect on human health. On the sidelines of the event, the Ministry of Health and Prevention – Dubai gave a video presentation about the robotic pharmacy at Fujairah Hospital. The event outlined the role of nursing in the provision of health services, career opportunities available to students after graduation, and potential support through scholarships. It also presented a number of health products and provided body mass examinations.
Dr. Amina Almarzouqi, Acting Dean of the College of Health Sciences, and Dr. Syed Aziz ur Rahman, Chair of Health Services Administration Department, attended the inauguration, accompanied with a number of members of the administrative and teaching bodies, and students.
