Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, inaugurated the Graduation Projects Exhibition at the College of Communication, titled: "Zayed: The Goodness". Attended the inauguration, Shihab Al Hammadi, Director of Sharjah Media City – Shams, Dr. Khalid Abdullah, Advisor - Dar Al Khaleej Printing & Publishing, Jassim Al Obaidali, Representative for the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare, Prof. Elsiddig Ahmed El Mustafa El Sheikh, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, Prof. Qutayba Hamid Al Heialy, Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Health Sciences and Dean of College of Medicine, Dr. Salah Taher, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, Prof. Khairat Ayad, Head of PR Department at the College, Prof. Khalid Al Rabawi, Director of PR Department at UoS and General Coordinator of the Exhibition, and deans of colleges and members of the teaching and administrative bodies and students.
During his tour to the pavilions of the graduation projects of the students, Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, praised the exhibition and the distinguished projects of the students of the College of Communication. He stressed that they succeeded to express the essence of the relationship between UoS and the community through several graduation projects that were executed in collaboration with national and private enterprises within the UAE, especially the Emirate of Sharjah, which in turn reflects the honorable aspect of the results of the education process in UoS, which mainly focuses on community development and service.
Dr. Essam Naser, Acting Dean of the College of Communication, delivered the opening speech, in which he stated "This event marks the 7th version of the graduation projects exhibition of the students of the College of Communication, as all efforts have collaborated to achieve such success and choose (Zayed: The Goodness) as our title for this semester".
"Since its conception, the University of Sharjah has been proud of being a community college; this exhibition is an embodiment of such concept, as it showcases a distinguished group of graduation projects focused on issues of interests to the community, which stems from the students' connection to their society's issues and achievements; therefore, today we stand before remarkable works in all disciplines, ranging from media campaigns, research and documentary films to the different forms of media productions in graphics and multimedia".
Shihab Al Hammadi, Director of Sharjah Media City – Shams, noted "these projects are a translation of the extent and seriousness of the effort made by the students, and their interaction with their teachers, to become part of media leaders in the future, and leave a unique and distinct mark in the landscape wherever they go; therefore, I would like to tank these honorable teachers for their support and guidance to the students during their journey".
"Our sponsorship to this event stems from the core of our interest and strategies at Shams City, which continues to grow better and brighter with your ideas and creative projects; and we wish to take this opportunity to welcome you all at Shams City", added Al Hammadi.
During the event, a short film about the late Sheikh Zayed, and another about the national archive of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs were displayed.
This semester's exhibition contains more than 48 graduation projects of over 96+ students in various fields of the College of Communication comprised of: 23 projects on public relations, 13 for the electronic media, 7 on graphics design, and 5 on public communication in the English language. The projects varies between the organization of exhibitions and workshops, designing media and promotional campaigns, production of documentary and short films about community issues, and the arts of design, creativity and marketing.
At the end of the inauguration ceremony, Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, accompanied by Dr. Essam Naser, Acting Dean of the College of Communication, honored the sponsors, entities and institutions that participated in the exhibition. Dr. Essam Naser presented a commemorative shield to Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy.
Among the key participating enterprises and institutions that were honored: the National Archive at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Sharjah Media City "Shams", Dar Al Khaleej Printing & Publishing, the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare, Sharjah Media Corporation, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Expo Center Sharjah, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, Sharjah Cooperative Society, Centro Sharjah, and Perfection – Events Management.
