The Directorate of Human Resources – Sharjah held a ceremony last Monday to celebrate the graduation of the first batch of graduates of the professional diplomas program in the Eastern Region, which was organized in collaboration with the University of Sharjah. The program is part of DHR's training programs for staff members, to prepare a generation of qualified employees equipped with knowledge and skills that enable them to perform their tasks in a professional and high-quality manner and according to best world practices.
His Excellency Dr. Tariq Sultan Ahmed Bin Khadim Al Nuaimi, Member of Sharjah Executive Council and Chairman of the Directorate of Human Resources, and His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of University of Sharjah, honored the graduates. Attended the ceremony as well, Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Director of Branches Affairs Department – DHR, Dr. Radhi Al Zubaidi, Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development, and a number of managers and officials in the Eastern Region. The ceremony was held at UoS auditorium in Kalba. After honoring the graduates, the executive authority and participating authorities in the professional programs were honored
H.E. Dr. Tariq Bin Khadim, Chairman of DHR, gave speech in which he stated: "When the advanced countries began their renaissance, the human element was given great attention, as it is the determining factor in establishing such advancement". "They provided their human resources with all skills and ensured a proper work environment for them", added H.E. "The Government of Sharjah realized that, thanks to the directives of UAE's leadership represented in His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, as his guidance has always focused on human resources, in terms of training, qualification and development of work mechanisms that meet the continuous development". "Such guidance was realized through DHR, where mechanisms and strategies of training programs were introduced, and resulted in substantial improvement in professional performance and productivity", noted H.E.
H.E. Dr. Tariq Al Nuaimi stressed DHR's keenness to achieve optimum investment of human resources, as they are a true wealth for the State. The directorate provides human resources with knowledge, skills and competencies through developmental plans and programs that enable them to achieve the highest level of efficiency by placing them at the heart of the executive process, and through practice and gaining expertise.
He also explained the significance of vocational growth in various professional disciplines that enable the trainee to obtain accredited certificates. This in turn fulfills business requirements and needs at government departments, authorities and establishments, in collaboration with reputable universities, institutes and specialized centers.
He noted that training employees is part of the efforts dedicated to improve government operations, achieve highest levels of excellence and effectively contribute to improving the performance of their corporations.
At the end of his speech, H.E. expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the University of Sharjah, the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development, and all parties and entities associated with the program, for their attentiveness to improve the performance of DHR's human resources and achieve a remarkable shift in business systems and practices and corporate productivity.
On his part, His Excellency Prof. Hamid Al Naimiy, Chancellor of University of Sharjah, congratulated the graduates for their achievement, which will enable them to support their duties and responsibilities in the development of the UAE.
Prof. Al Naimiy expressed his pride that the University of Sharjah has provided the community of Eastern Region's cities such a constellation of graduates of the professional diploma, which was held at the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development at UoS, in collaboration with the Directorate of Human Resources – Sharjah, to serve their community in a modern fashion that is required by the modern and civilizational renaissance of the society.
He also noted that the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development and the Community College are some of the most important tools of the University of Sharjah. Together they seek to fulfil the requirements of development and enhancement of the surrounding community, especially after His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, President of UoS and Ruler of Sharjah, has enabled the university to perform such duties efficiently at several cities within the emirate. His Highness provided the university and such tools with various capabilities, scientific instruments, and professional and knowledgeable expertise to achieve such purpose.
DHR organized several professional diploma programs to the staff of several government agencies in the Eastern Region. The directorate provided an inspectors diploma for the staff of municipalities of Khor Fakkan, Kalba and Dibba Al-Hisn, as well as an environmental tourism diploma for the staff of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority.
The diplomas aim at training and qualifying employees in terms of business basics through a specialized vocational program that trains an employee on dealing with business tasks in a professional manner. The inspectors diploma tackled significant disciplines on the principles of biology, professional health and safety, environmental legislations and laws, environmental and food inspection, professional ethics and judicial police. The program comprised of 130 accredited training hours, aimed at training national resources on health inspection and surveillance, application of national standardization and metrology in the inspection of public and private entities, gaining knowledge of methods and local and international laws of inspection, implementation of health requirements at establishments, sampling and preparing expert control reports.
The environmental tourism diploma, which consist of 130 accredited training hours, provides an employee with the knowledge of various disciplines in landscape ecology, tourism, economy, general health, the environment, tourism and ecological laws, skills of enjoyment with tourists, ecological and sustainable tourism and tourism management.
