Dr. Salah Taher, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs at the University of Sharjah received a delegation from the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center "Sheraa" to discuss the ways of mutual cooperation between the two in supporting and expanding the services and programs that serve the entrepreneurs of students and graduates to start their small and medium enterprises, the delegation included Ms. Eman Al-Mahmoud, Programs Manager at Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center, and Ms. Najla Al Ansari, Marketing and outreach manager at Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Salah welcomed the delegation and discussed the services and programs offered by the University, stressing the University's concern to provide a variety of programs that serve labor market which may encourage and motivate the students to make achievements and innovations in their fields of specialization, and to create kind of cooperation between students from different fields, in addition to the university's follow up of its graduates, a large number of them take up important positions in the governmental and private institutions, and some may start their own business, stating that the University works on permanent cooperation with many different institutions and entities to exchange experiences, services and support.
The delegation also presented a briefing about the Center whose aim is to accommodate and support the ideas and the small and medium enterprises for students and graduates at the university campus starting from the idea of the project and until its establishment in addition to the services and programs provided by the Center to enhance the creative skills of the entrepreneurs and to motivate them to present new and creative ideas for their own businesses. The delegation also talked about the "Business Accelerator Program", the first program that aims to support the entrepreneurs launched by an Emirati University providing a lot of support, motivation and guidance to the young to enhance the spirit of entrepreneurship. The program includes also technical support provided to the future entrepreneurs by a number of professionals in a variety of fields in order to help them to start their own businesses successfully, in cooperation with a number of the governmental and private entities and companies which support the young through lectures and seminars.
