TITLE: WRITING OF EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES & OBJECTIVES
It is a task-based mini-workshop on rationale, definition, proper statement and classification of educational/learning objectives (learning outcomes).
The workshop method will be used with active participation in the learning process throughout, the usual mode being short, interactive plenary sessions followed by small group work, the out-come of which is presented & discussed in plenary. Reference to selected articles, handouts, and other materials will be exercised. Evaluation will be through open discussion with participants, whip-around and end of workshop questionnaire.
- Give a definition of educational/learning objective.
- Explain the rationale, main uses and advantages of clearly stated educational objectives.
- State (write) general and specific instructional objectives (SIOs)/learning outcomes (LOs) on educationally sound basis and designate their classification/domain.
- Given the required information, state sound educational/learning objectives for a module and for a PBL problem.
Health personnel faculty and students
Learning outcomes are the hub of educational planning, design, implementation, assessment, evaluation and accreditation. Knowing them well and having the right skill to write them correctly are of paramount importance.
