Incoming Students
Arrival to the UAE
    • Make sure to select your arrival destination as: Dubai International Airport or Sharjah International Airport ONLY.
    • Usually there will be someone from the Local Committee waiting for you at the airport. If not, there are plenty of taxi services available to take you to the University of Sharjah.

 

 Accommodations

    • You will be given accommodations in the University of Sharjah dormitories and
      will stay with either one or two roommates, depending on the size of the room.
    • Free Internet service is available. Be sure to bring your LAN cable.
    • Each room is equipped with a landline that can receive international and local phone calls.
    • Rooms are furnished and include a kitchen, toilet and shower.
    • Also available to you are: Computer labs, lounge areas with televisions, and laundry and sports facilities. According to University of Sharjah regulations, the dorms and dorm residents fall under the following regulations:
     
    1. Male and female dormitories are separate.
    2. Drinking alcohol, using drugs, and smoking are prohibited.
    3. Dorm residents may arrive to their rooms no later than 12:00 a.m. at night.

     

Finance
    • The payment you receive from your employer normally covers the costs of living (including lodging) for one person, but not necessarily extra expenses. You should bring extra money to cover entertainment activities.
    • Lodging costs will be paid by IAESTE UAE. You will not have to pay.

 

 Transportation
    • Free transportation to and from the workplace will be arranged by IAESTE UAE.
    • Weekend transportation will be arranged by the IAESTE Local Committee.

 

 Telecommunications
    • You may purchase a SIM mobile card for the cost of 165 AED.
    • Your phone needs to be an unlocked dual-band, tri-band or quad-band GSM phone, capable of functioning on the 900/1800 MHz GSM band in order to accept the SIM card.

 

 Entertainment
    • After the workweek, it is time to have some fun! The Local Committee will arrange some weekend trips to various places around the UAE.
    • You will be granted free access to the sports complex facilities at University of Sharjah.
