UOS signs MOU with Sharjah Theatres Group

The Chancellor of University of Sharjah (UOS), Prof. Eng. Samy Mahmoud and H.E. Mr. Mohammed Hamdan Bin Jarsh, General Director of Sharjah Theatres Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for supporting the social and cultural activities and developing the theatrical development in the emirate of Sharjah.

Prof. Eng. Samy stated that this agreement is considered as a first-official step taken by the University towards development and prosperity of cultural movements in the society. This agreement is consistent with the vision and message of UOS that are drawn-up by H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and Supreme President of the University of Sharjah.

He added that through this agreement, a lot of opportunities will be offered to know and develop talented students and faculty members in various fields of theatre. Also many colleges will benefit from this agreement in terms of courses including Colleges of Fine Arts and Design, Communication, Arts and the Department of Architecture in the college of Engineering.

H.E. Mr. Mohammed Hamdan Bin Jarsh, General Director of Sharjah Theatres Group, said that the University of Sharjah has experiences which we seek in order to develop and promote the theatrical movement in Sharjah towards high standards. “UOS is the first university to respond to our invitation to participate in the theatrical festival among universities. This agreement aims to attract UOS talent who look for opportunities to develop their talents as well as provide required training and workshops”, he added.

The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Salim Sabri, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Ismail, Vice Chancellor for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Dr. Eng. Salah Taher Al Haj, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, Prof. Mohamed Kirat, Dean of College of Communication, Prof. Hassan Abdullah, Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Design, Dr. Nabil Kallas, Dean of Academic Support Services and Mr. Fareed Al Amiri, Director of Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development.
