Minister of Health praises Sultan’s vision in supporting medical research

H.E. Dr. Hanif Hassan Ali, Minister of Health, praised the Biomedical Research Center at the University of Sharjah (UOS) during a visit to the Center. He emphasized that this center reflects the vision of H. H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and the Supreme President of the University, in supporting medical and health research.

Dr. Hanif was accompanied by Prof. Mohammed Husam Al Din Hamdi, Vice Chancellor for the Medical Colleges and Dean of College of Medicine, Dr. Amin Al Amiri, Chief Executive Officer of Medical Practices and Licensing Section at the Ministry, college deans, and faculty members. He stated that this research center promotes strategies that the Ministry regards as critical to science and medicine.
Dr. Hanif also visited the International Center for Clinical Training and Sharjah Center for Surgeon Training at the University of Sharjah. The latter represents an important training center with the latest surgical practices particularly telescopic surgeries. This Center has been established in association with Johnson & Johnson (J&J) Middle East, Ministry of Health and UOS.

After the tour, the Joint Supreme Committee consisting of H.E. Dr. Hanif Hassan Ali, Prof. Eng. Samy A. Mahmoud, Prof. Mohammed Husam Al Din Hamdi, and Dr. Amin Al Amiri, held a meeting to discuss the collaboration between UOS Colleges of Medicine and Health Sciences and hospitals and health centers in Sharjah in order to exchange expertise and provide consultations.
During this meeting, Dr. Hanif stressed on the importance of the field of research for chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart diseases. This field research is one of the priorities in the Ministry’s stategic initiatives.
