UOS signs agreement with Nujoom Islands Developers

The Chancellor of the University of Sharjah (UOS), Prof. Eng. Samy Mahmoud and H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Faheed Al Shakra, Chairman of the Nujoom Islands project signed a collaborative agreement at the University.
This agreement calls for UOS to provide available expertise and resources in the fields of scientific research including health care, the environment, culture and arts, as well as community services. Similarly, Nujoom Islands developers will offer UOS technical skills and expertise from which UOS students can benefit .
The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Mr. Ahmad Muhammad Al-Madf’a, Chairman of the Board of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Member of UOS Board of Trustees, H.E. Mr. Muhammad Hassan Al-Nouman, Member of UOS Board of Trustees, Prof. Salim Sabri, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Ismail, Vice Chancellor for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Dr. Salah Taher Al Haj, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs and a number of Sharjah Municipal Council Chairmen, college deans and faculty members.
Commenting on the agreement, Chancellor Mahmoud stated that this collaboration is consistent with the mission of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and Supreme President of the University of Sharjah in serving and developing the local community. He said that this agreement has to do with one of the largest investment projects being developed in Al Hamriya district of Sharjah. This integrated project comprises residential, commercial, retail, and hospitality facilities meeting the highest specifications in standards of living. Residents of Nujoom Islands will enjoy the highest standards of health, the environment and culture. Living requirements will be met by UOS providing resources, expertise and potential in these areas.
In his speech, Sheikh Abdullah Faheed Al Shakra, Chairman of Nujoom Islands, emphasized that this agreement has been signed in the light of a strategic relationship with UOS over several years. “This agreement reflects the company’s message that focuses on real investing, which is the transfer of knowledge and know-how to the new generation and is consistent with directives of H.H.
Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, UAE Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, who is responsible for the Emirate of Sharjah being named the Capital of Culture and Knowledge," he commented. “We at Al Hanoo Holding look forward to cooperating with the UOS management, faculty and students and to sharing our best through our current projects in Sharjah to benefit UOS students in terms of scientific research, training and technical and engineering applications," Sheikh Abdullah added.
A team, consisting of the Chancellor, Prof. Eng. Samy Mahmoud, Prof. Salim Sabri, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Mohammed Husam Al Din Hamdi, Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Dean of College of Medicine, Dr. Mohammed Ismail, Vice Chancellor for Financial and Administrative Affairs, and college deans and directors of UOS departments and centers, has already visited the Nujoom Island project location in the Al Hamriya area.
