UOS Board of Trustees discusses strategic plans

 

Sharjah-UOS:

Under the presidency of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al-Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and the Supreme President of University of Sharjah (UOS), the 28th meeting of Board of Trustees of the University of Sharjah was held yesterday.

During the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al-Qassimi praised the development of the academic process at the University of Sharjah, pointing out  the recent academic collaborations and alliances in fields of education and research at the local, regional and international levels.

During this meeting, Prof. Samy A. Mahmoud, Chancellor of University of Sharjah, highlighted the important achievements made after the last meeting of the board. The achievements covered administrative developments, academic programs, research activities, academic support services, and academic collaborations in accordance with the University’s strategic plan and objectives.

The Board of Trustees certified the reports of the Financial Committee, which cover financial data and the Financial Audit Report for 2008-2009, in addition to an executive summary for the Fiscal Year ending on August, 31st.

Additionally, the Board of Trustees approved a number of faculty promotions, College of Fine Arts and Design academic by-laws, and modifications requested by the Academic Committee related to admission requirements for Bachelor and Diplomas at the Community College and by-laws related to the UOS Alumni Association.

The Board of Trustees approved programs approved launching new academic programs, including a Bachelor of Finance, Bachelor of IT Multimedia, Master of Special Education and Master of Educational Administration. The Board gave credit to the new Innovation Complex that will be established for researchers and innovative individuals so that they may communicate with various organizations and authorities from Sharjah and throughout the UAE. This complex will support and facilitate scientific research in order to meet the needs of the UAE society in the socio-economic and cultural realms.

Kamal, President of Philadelphia University, Jordan, Dr. Richard Graeme Larkins, Vice Chancellor and President, Monash University, Dr. George K. Najjar, Vice President for Regional and External Programs, American University of Beirut, Dr. Mark Zupan, Dean of William Simon Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Rochester in USA,  Dr. Amr Abdel-Hamid, Special Advisor to His Highness for Higher Education, Prof. Samy A. Mahmoud, Chancellor of University of Sharjah and Dr. Mohammed Ismail, Vice Chancellor for Administration and Financial Affairs.
