UOS signs agreement for training on medical Laser use
Prof. Eng. Samy Mahmoud, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah (UOS), signed a collaboration agreement with both Dr. Lukash Matjaz, President of Slovenia Health and Laser Academy, and Dr. Taher Khalil, President of Light Care International, specializing in medical laser.
The collaboration will be between the Clinical Training Center at the UOS Medical and Health Sciences Colleges Complex, Laser Academy in Slovenia and Light Care International. It aims to provide training for physicians, technicians, nurses and specialists at the under-construction center, which is being called SULTARC at the UOS Medical and Health Sciences Colleges Complex. This center is the first in the region in the field of providing training services on the latest technologies of health and medical laser uses as well as related research.
The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Salim Sabri, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Mohammed Husam Al Din Hamdi, Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Dean of College of Medicine, Dr. Mohammed Ismail, Vice Chancellor for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Dr. Salah Taher Al Haj, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs and a number of UOS college deans and faculty members.
The Chancellor of UOS, Prof. Eng. Samy, emphasized that the main objective of this agreement with two international medical parties is to provide qualifying and training services in fields of uses of latest laser technologies in medical and health operations regionally. This reflects the real position that the UOS reaches international levels as a result of directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and Supreme President of University of Sharjah and agreements signed with many prestigious institutions and scientific centers under his highness’ sponsorship.
“The University of Sharjah is a comprehensive university, has a global vision in general and the medical education in particular”, he added. Prof. Eng. Samy praised the efforts of Prof. Mohammed Husam Al Din Hamdi, Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Dean of College of Medicine, who is a leading academic personality in distinctive medical education as he described.
The Chancellor indicated that the Clinical Training Center at UOS Medical and Health Sciences Colleges Complex will be the only place to provide such medical training services to ensure quality and security in uses of medical laser through SULTARC. These advanced training programs will be designed in high international standards and specifications, and supervised by top-qualified specialists.
