Admission Policy
First: Students Holding a High School Certificate or Its Equivalent (in Science or Literature):

A High School Certificate with a minimum average of 70% is required for admissions to the following colleges: Shari’a & Islamic Studies, Business Administration, Law, Fine Arts & Design, Communication, Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

A minimum average of 60% is required for admission to literature majors in community College.

A minimum average of 65% (Literature, Section) is required for admission to Information Technology major , Food safety major , and Environmental Health and Safety major in community College.
Second: Students Holding a High School Certificate or its Equivalent (in Science):

A minimum average of 60% is required for admission to the Scientific majors in Community college .

A minimum average of 70% is required for admission to the college of Sciences .

A minimum average of 75% is required for admission to the Colleges of Engineering, Health Sciences .
-
A minimum average of 80% is required for admission to the College of Pharmacy. .
-
A minimum average of 85% is required for admission to the college of Dentistry.
-
A minimum average of 90% is required for admission to the college of Medicine.
Third: Students holding a Technical High School Certificate or Its Equivalent
Students who have obtained a technical secondary certificate may apply to one of the University's colleges according to the following provisions:
- Students carrying a Sharia secondary high school certificate or its equivalency with a minimum of at least 75% may apply to the following colleges: Sharia and Islamic Studies, Law, Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (except for English Language and Literature);
- Students carrying a Business secondary high school certificate or its equivalency with a minimum of at least 80% may apply to the College of Business Administration (either Business Administration or Public Administration).
- Students carrying an Industrial secondary high school certificate or its equivalency with a minimum of at least 85% may apply to the College of Engineering and the College of Sciences (according to their respective fields). Also, students carrying a certificate from a technical institution or its equivalency with a minimum of at least 90% may apply to the College of Engineering or the College of Sciences (according to their respective fields).

Fourth: Students Holding a Foreign Secondary Certificate:
A. Students holding an American secondary degree (High School Diploma) or its equivalent (The International Baccalaureate):

Students should have completed 12 years of school upon obtaining the High School Certificate and be able to demonstrate proof.
-
Present a certified certification for secondary grades 10, 11, and 12.
- The High School Certificate must be accepted by the government universities in the country from which the certificate was obtained and proof of this must be presented (for students who have obtained their certificate outside the UAE).
- The student’s track (i.e. Literature or Science) shall be determined by what the student studied in 12th grade.
- Students should have completed at least (6) courses successfully within at least four of the following study areas: Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Languages (with English as the language of instruction) , the Science field for the students who want to apply to the Medical Colleges ( Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy ) should be distributed in the final three years (G10, G11, G12) as follows: studying Biology Twice, & Chemistry Twice & Physics at least once, with obtaining in Biology or Chemistry not less than B in grade 12.
B. Students who have obtained a British Secondary Certificate (IGCSE, GCSE, GCE):
- Students should have completed 12 years of school upon obtaining the High School Certificate and be able to demonstrate proof.
- Students should have completed at least (5) courses successfully in the (O Levels) with an IGCSE/GCSE certificate and (2) courses in the (AS Levels), or (6) courses in the (O Levels) & (1) course in the (A Level), in at least four of the following areas of study: Mathematics, Languages, Sciences, Social Studies.
- The student’s grade in the (O level) with an IGCSE/GCSE certificate should be a minimum of (C), the student’s grade in the (AS Level) with a GCE certificate should be a minimum of (D), and the student’s grade in the (A Level) with a GCE certificate should be a minimum of (E).
- Seven courses should be calculated into the British High School Certificate.
- The Science field should include the Chemistry & Biology for the students who want to apply to the Medical Colleges (Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy), with obtaining in Biology or Chemistry not less than B in (A.S.L) or not less than C in the (A. L).
Fifth: Basic Requirements for Admission to the University:

Applicants should indicate their order of preference on the application form.

Applicants are assigned their majors according to the following: the capacity of each college, the student’s preference and the student’s grade average.

The applicant’s degree should be obtained within minimum of (3) years from the date of application in the High School Certificate (this condition is applied for all colleges with the exception of medicine & Dentistry colleges).

The applicant should not have been expelled from the University of Sharjah or from any other educational institution in the country or somewhere else either for academic or disciplinary reasons.

The student may reserve a seat after paying a fee of (AED 3000) that will count toward his/her tuition fees and non-refundable in case of his/her withdrawal from the university or in case of non attendance.

Paying a reservation seat fees & satisfying other requirements does not in any way guarantee a final acceptance to the Medicine & Dentistry Colleges, all applicants will be competing for a limited number of seats available annually in each program.

Students are not allowed to register their course or apply for ID card before completing their documents.
Sixth : Admission to the College of Business Administration:
Students holding a high school certificate or its equivalent (in science or literature or commercial streams), and applying to study in one of the business administration programs will be accepted in the General Business program.joining the majors offered by the college of business administration will depend on satisfying the condition of the college and completing (36) credit hours.
Seventh : Admission Requirements for the Bridging Programs( Nursing - Medical Diagnostic Imaging):
Conditions for admissions for students applying to the Bridging Programs in the College of Health Sciences(Nursing - Medical Diagnostic Imaging) are as follows:
- The study load for students should be no more than 6-12 credit hours and up to 13 credit hours only if one of the courses is 4 credit hours or one of the credit hours is a lab hour (with the permission of the Dean of the College).
- Students must obtain a GPA of at least 2.00 on a semester basis. Otherwise, they will be dismissed from the University.
eighth : Requirements for promotion to the first year of the Program of Medicine or Program of Dental Surgery are as follows:
1. Passing the following core courses of the Foundation Year:
• Physics,
• Physics-lab
• Chemistry – I
• Chemistry – II
• Chemistry Lab
• Biology – I
• Biology – II
• Biology –Lab
• Introduction to Medical Sciences Education
• Medical English I
• Medical English II
2. Attaining a Cumulative GPA ≥ 2.5.
3. Attaining a Cumulative GPA in Chemistry and Biology and respective labs ≥ 2.5.
4. The number of clinical placements is limited, Formal advancement is competitive.
5. Only the most highly qualified foundations students will be promoted.
ninth: Students Shall Abide by All Other University Requirements.
Important general notes:
1. Please note that submitting an application, paying the application fee & receiving an ID number does not in any way mean that an applicant is admitted to the University. Admission is offered after paying a reservation seat fee that will counted toward his/her tuition account, & non-refundable in case of his/her withdrawal from the University or Cancel Admission.
2. The student needs to check for his/her admission exams & personal interview dates & results through out the University website (www.sharjah.ac.ae).
3. Admission is valid ONLY for the academic semester for which the applicant applies.
4. New Students may request a hold on their admission (for all the programs with the exception of Medicine & Dentistry colleges) for a maximum of one semester provided that they fulfil the required fees & they must submit the form of postponing their admission to the admission department before the class starts.
5. The University is not responsible for the applications that are given to the sponsors to get a scholarship and the applicant should follow up with them.
6. Students who have been denied admission or have not enrolled in the colleges where they were accepted can reclaim their admission papers only with in two months from the date of their application.
7. The students lose the right to take any document from their files after submitting the file.
8. Paying a reservation seat fees & satisfying other requirements does not in any way guarantee a final acceptance to the Medicine & Dentistry Colleges, all applicants will be competing for a limited number of seats available annually in each program.
9. The University does not accept the submission of the original High School Certificate.
