Introduction
Successful government organizations are always keen to update procedures and promote performance in order to achieve the best levels and excellence of performance. They exert efforts to maintain such policy through working up blueprints for such excellence. Successful organizations seek as well to develop the concepts of excellence in all job grades in order to promote the abilities of the employees, motivate them to cultivate their professional and creative skills and encourage them to adopt new work methods and procedures that improve services provided by government organizations through enhancing employees competencies.
Since the Government of Sharjah looks forward to developing performance and encourages employees working in different departments, Distinguished Employee Award is a nice gesture by the Government of Sharjah for excellent employees aiming at improving the general level of performance. The Award seeks to encourage innovation and elicit potential capacities through moral and pecuniary motivation, securing encouraging environment in workplaces and enhancing constructive cooperation and competition among the Government of Sharjah employees. The purpose of the award is not looking for a winner; it aims at rendering all the participants as winners through making them aware of the actual level of their performance according to the standards of quality and job excellence. As a result, the government performance will be a distinguished one.
The award program has been developed as a result of joint efforts of the General Secretariat of the Executive Council and the Center of Continuing Education and Community Service at the University of Sharjah.
