Our Services
We provide primary health care to the university community of all levels and ages while giving top priority to human, moral and professional aspects.
First: Health and Medical Services Offered:
The Medical Services Administration provides the following primary health care, within available capabilities, through its clinics:
- General Clinics: Offering primary health care, treatment, preventative medicine and health education on common diseases through the general practitioners to the entire university community (male/ female students, faculty and their families, administrative staff and their families and University guests).
- Dental Clinics: Receiving, examining and treating oral and dental problems at the diagnostic and primary levels within the capabilities available and for nominal fees. Currently, there are two clinics; one in the men’s clinic and another in the women’s clinic.
- Nursing: Providing comprehensive nursing care and services in both clinics including receiving emergency and simple cases, recording patient particulars, organizing entry of patients into the examination room and providing necessary treatment.
- Reception: Receiving patients, preparing the patient’s medical file or record , recording personal data, organizing and following up appointments of outpatients, preparing daily, monthly and annual statistics, answering telephone calls, handling other matters relating to both clinics and other institutions such as hospitals, clinics, etc, and following up receipt of finances relating to the medical services provided.
Second: ancillary Health and Medical Services:
- Medical Lab: Carrying out medical lab tests and running tests referred to it from university physicians for nominal fees.
- Emergency Clinics: Male and female nurses handle emergency cases through the call system and thereafter by calling the doctor if necessary after work hours, including during weekends and holidays. There are two emergency clinics; one on the men’s campus and the other on the women’s campus.
- Ambulance Department: An ambulance with a driver is available to transport emergency cases to nearby hospitals round the clock in coordination with the University City Services.
Third: Other Health and Medical Services:
- Referral System: Referring emergency and urgent cases to a specialist in nearby public hospitals if the need arises. Please note that a health card from the UAE government must be available.
- Follow-up of Chronic Cases: Following up on chronic cases and coordinating their referral to specialists in public hospitals if the need arises.
- Follow-up of Pregnancy: Providing primary care for pregnant students, employees and wives of faculty.
- Immunization: Offering necessary immunization and vaccines necessary for College of Health Sciences students as well as medical students whose study plan requires training in local hospitals in order to protect them from communicable diseases in cooperation with Department of Preventative Medicine in Sharjah Medical Zone.
- Psychological Counseling: Cooperating with and following up cases referred to them from the psychological counselors in the Deanship of Student Affairs on both campuses.
- Medical Checkup for Driving License: Providing this service to male/ female students, faculty and their families and administrative staff in cooperation with Sharjah Police.
- Spreading Medical Awareness and Education: This is carried out in cooperation with the Deanship of Student Affairs, other deanships, health and society organizations in accordance with prepared educational programs. We also participate in health-related activities at the state level as well as the international level such as the World Health Day.
- Physiotherapy: Offering physiotherapy services in both clinics for nominal fees.
- Continuing Medical Education: a continuing medical education program aimed at raising the standards of medical staff in cooperation with faculty in the medical colleges.
Fourth: Health Insurance:
University Students:
The university clinics offer students primary health care (examination, diagnosis, treatment of emergency and simple cases), medication and treatments for nominal fees.
University Faculty and Staff
The university administration offers its faculty and staff health insurance as part of the employment contract. This insurance enables them to visit clinics and hospitals designated by the insurance company, with necessary treatments and medication provided in accordance with the insurance policy and in accordance with terms and conditions agreed upon by the university administration and the insurance company.
