UOS Libraries

There are four campus libraries located respectively in (M2) the Men's Colleges, (W2) the Women's Colleges, (M26) Medical and health sciences complex and College of Fine Arts. Each library contains a growing collection of different sources formats covering the university's program for study and research. 

These libraries have grown over the years in response to the growing needs of staff and students. In addition to books, the libraries contain databases on CD’s, Videos, audiotapes and electronic search facilities to support educational process and research through acquiring information resources to fulfill the needs of the university community. They also contain specialized halls, computers laboratories and photocopying and indexing facilities. The library services are open to external students and researchers.

      

  Latest main Achievements

• To enhance the effective use of the online resources, the Libraries Department acquired “Athens”, an access management tool, which allows remote access to electronic resources, and thereby brings more support for learning, education and research process. Moreover, Athens regulates the access, searching and retrieving resources and protects the Intellectual Property Rights.

• Subject guides, for each college / academic department, were finalized and published through the library homepage. All the available information resources, categorized by the “type of source”, are listed in the subject guides allowing the users reach their related resources effortlessly.

• The Libraries Department conducted a series of long and distinguished training and educational sessions for users from different colleges and levels. The users’ education sessions had a great impact on developing the users’ skills in searching and retrieving information to achieve the optimal use of the information resources.
