Achievements

 To achieve the university of Sharjah mission in becoming a distinguished university in research and teaching especially in Graduate Studies, the College of Graduate Studies and Research has worked to achieve several steps in this direction since it's establishment .  The accomplishments , in the Acedemic year 2008/2009  can be classified into the fowllowing domains :

Graduate Studies Domain:

1. Holding workshops and meetings with graduate students and faculty members at the colleges to discuss issues of graduate studies, supervision, etc.
2. Rectifying the status of the graduate students who stopped studying or withdrew from the University.
3. In 2008 – 2009, 158  students were admitted to the master’s program .
4. 198  students graduated in the academic year 2008-2009 and 15 expected to graduate.
5. Approving the regulations of Comprehensive Examination Track of the Master’s Program
6. New master programs were added in the year 2008-2009 .

General Scientific Research Domain.:

1. Amending the by-laws and executive regulations of research.
2. Issuing new by-laws of patents and establishment of specialized research centers .
3. Developing a strategic plan for the next 5 years.    
4. Create the following prizes :

     1. A Prize for the best research project in the field of humanities and social sciences.

2. A Prize for the best research project in the field of basic sciences.

3. A Prize for the best research project in the field of medical and health sciences.

 4. A Prize for the best research paper in the field of humanities.

5. A Prize for the best research paper in the field of basic sciences.

6. A Prize for the best research paper in the field of medical and health sciences.

7. A Prize of the best research group.

8. A Prize for the best Master’s Thesis.

9. A Prize for the best undergraduate student project /study.

10. A Prize for the best student scientific association.

11. A Prize for the best authored or translated book.

12. A Prize for the best booth at the exhibition.

   5.Holding the Fifth Scientific Research Forum.

   6.Holding a workshop on research during the Fifth Scientific Research Forum .

   7.Recieved a funding for (5) research projects of amount of (500,000)AED.

   8.Participating in Sharjah World Book Fair, with a single booth for the College

Projects and Research  Groups Domain:

1. Funding 32 competitive and seed research projects by AED 687,400.
2. Registering 3 research groups, increasing the number into 16, with an allocated amount of AED 1.500.000for the Academic year 2008-2009.
3. Supporting several participations in scientific conferences of the research groups.
4. Supporting several summer visits for research purposes.
5. Holding 20 workshops and seminars by the  RG.
6. Holding several Scientific seminars.

Publications Domain:

1. Issuing 6  issues of the UoS Journal with its three series:
• UoS Journal for Sharia and Law
• UoS Journal for Humanities and Social Sciences
• UoS Journal for Pure and Applied Sciences  (ceased)
2. Issuing or re-issuing the following guides:
• Graduate Studies Guide  2009/2010
• Theses abstracts of the UoS Guide,2009
• Funded Research Projects at the UOS (2007,2008), issued 2009
