WHAT IS UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH: 

Undergraduate research involves undergraduate students participating in discovering and applying knowledge.  This participation can be through pursuing students’ own ideas or joining an established research program or project.

 

PURPOSE OF UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH PROGRAM:  The purpose of undergraduate research program at the UOS is to enrich undergraduate education through promoting students’ innovation and creativity and engaging them in research experiences involving the discovery and application of knowledge. 

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH PROGRAM

  1. Organize the involvement of undergraduate students in university research.
  2. Enrich undergraduate education through integrating teaching and learning and research.
  3. Build partnerships among undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty.
  4. Motivate students to pursue graduate studies and research oriented careers.
  5. Value the innovation and research contributions of undergraduate students.

 

STUDENTS’ INVOLVEMENT IN UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH:

Students can participate in undergraduate research on the following basis:  

(1) Volunteer Work; or

(2) Paid Work.

 

Each one of those opportunities has its own requirements and selection criteria.
