GENERAL
Applications for graduate admission are accepted for the first (Sept.) and second semesters (February) only. The university usually opens the door for application around five to six months before the semester starts. The application forms should be sent with all the required documents to the College of Graduate Studies before the set deadline. Results will be usually announced in May/June for the first semester and in Dec./Jan for the second semester. Accepted applicants must pay the preliminary registration fees to reserve their seats. Failure to do that before the deadline, will result in the cancellation of acceptance.
Rules:
To hold a Bachelor's degree from A UAE-recognized university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3 over 4 or its equivalence. Students with a GPA of 2 to 2.99 may be admitted conditionally provided that they register for 6-9 credits hours in the first semester of their study and obtain a “B” average. Otherwise, a student will be expelled from the program.
The undergraduate degree must be achieved by attending no less than 75% of the required period. Students with degrees obtained by distance learning are not admitted.
To achieve the required English Proficiency score. A minimum of 550 in TOEFL or 6 in IELTS (or its equivalence) is required for English taught programs. A student may be admitted conditionally if he obtains 530 points or better on the TOEFL provided that the student must enroll in an English language course and receive a TOFEL score of 550 at the end of his first semester of study. The student will be expelled from the program if these two conditions are not met. The TOEFL is not required for programs taught in Arabic, but the student is required to take and pass an English language course as a prerequisite, if he does not have a 400 minimum score in TOEFL .
His undergraduate degree should be in a subject that would qualify him for the graduate major he wants to pursue. Students with different majors in their undergraduate degrees may be admitted upon the recommendation of the department after studying the prerequisite courses assigned by the department.
Some programs have additional admission requirements. Please consult the program's webpages for details.
