The College of Medicine was established in 2004 upon instructions from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qassemi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and Supreme President of the University of Sharjah.
The College is located on a Campus of the University of Sharjah together with the Colleges of Pharmacy and Dentistry. The medical curriculum is designed to deliver a course that meets the educational needs of medical students in the context of the community, preparing them to the medical professions expected to be practiced in the 21st Century. It is based closely on the Monash University Course in Melbourne Australia.
The values which define the University of Sharjah include excellence in education, service and research. The Faculty prides itself on providing outstanding medical and health sciences education which prepares students for the challenges they will face in professional life, both by virtue of the knowledge base they acquire, impartment of the skills needed to constantly update that knowledge base in a changing world, and reinforcement of the human skills and ethical values necessary to practice as outstanding health professionals.
