 Anatomy Learning Resource Center

 Overview:

The Learning Resource Center of Anatomy is available in M-27 for learning and teaching human Anatomy for the medical and dental students. It is formed of eight laboratories. Students gain the practical skills required for the 3D understanding of the gross anatomy and the microscopic structures of the human body. These labs are as follows:

  • 4 gross anatomy labs. (One for upper and lower extremities, one for head & neck, one for abdomen and pelvis).
  • 2 histology labs.
  • One anatomy museum.
  • One demonstration room.
  •  Equipments and instruments:

    • Every lab is equipped with computers and data show with accessibility to internet.
    • More than 70 plastinated pieces for all the parts of human body.
    • Plastic models of the highest quality covering all body parts and organs.
    • Two formalinized bodies used for dissection and demonstration.
    • Video camera with plasma screen for demonstration for a more than 25 students.

    • Binocular microscopes for histological examination of slides.
    • Full sets of histology slides for all the body tissues.
    • More than 20 illustrative anatomy charts of the different body systems.
    • X-ray viewing boxes.
    • Full set of X-ray films for studying the normal radiological anatomy.
    • Ultrasonography machine to obtain normal ultrasound images from volunteers or peer students under the guidance of teaching staff.

     Objectives:

The labs are designed to teach the students from a practical point of view the aspects of plane and 3 dimensional concepts of the human body parts and tissues. Students are required to be self-directed and interact in small groups. Students are encouraged for peer presentation guided by the class objectives given to them a head.

    Anatomy Teaching:

Human anatomy is taught in five main themes:

    1. Regional anatomy.
    2. Functional anatomy.
    3. Radiological anatomy.
    4. Surface anatomy.
    5. Clinical anatomy.
