College of Health Sciences (popularly known as CHS) is one of the pioneer Colleges, forming an integral part of the University of Sharjah’s existence. CHS founded in 1998 by a decree of His Ruler Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al-Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and Supreme President of the University . College of Health Sciences aspires to provide high quality University education and development of health care disciplines through quality research, in accordance with the International standards in order to prepare health professionals to participate and contribute to their societies positively; striving towards promotion and maintenance of the health of current and future generations. Lately, CHS has moved into Medical and Health Sciences complex and is waiting to expand itself to Learning Resource Center
The programs offered involve a multi-disciplinary approach that embrace a broad range of subject areas, and focus on intensive study of allied aspects of life, health and social sciences required to complete the understanding and promotion of health. The First year of the programs comprise of the essentials of life and health sciences including chemistry, biology, physics, human anatomy and physiology. Second year focuses on the applied sciences of biochemistry, microbiology, and introduction to the science of respective specialization. More advanced courses under area of each specialty are included in the Third year. The Final year employs courses involving intensive knowledge and application of advanced medical therapy pertaining to the specialty, professional ethics and methods research.
Backed by contemporary teaching and intensive clinical learning, the curricula are geared towards fostering creative and analytical thinking that prepare the students to be active, self- directed learners throughout their lives and enable them to excel in a wide variety of career/employment options. |
