Physics Laboratories In Brief

Overview

The Applied Physics Department, College of Sciences, currently runs five Educational Physics Laboratories and eight research labs. These labs are located in buildings M12 and W12.

 The Educational Labs include:

  • Physics 1 Labs (Engineering and Sciences students)
  • Physics 2 Labs (Engineering and Sciences students)
  • General Physics for Health Sciences Labs (Health Sciences Students)
  • Physics for Medical Sciences Labs (Medical Sciences students)
  • Intermediate Physics Labs (Medical Diagnostic Imaging Labs)
  • Demonstrations Labs (designated for high school students and visitors)

The research Labs include:

  • Thermal characterization of solid materials (Dr. Bashir Suleiman)
  •  Spectroscopy Lab (Dr. Hussein Alwadhi)
  • Computational Lab (Dr. Najeh Jisrawi)
  • Solar Energy Lab (Dr. Ala Al-Douri)
  • Acoustics Lab (Dr. Hussein Elmehdi)
  • X-Ray Lab (Dr. Attaelmanan Gaffar)
  • Astrophysics (Prof. Hamid Alnaimyi)
  • Very Low Frequency (VLF) remote sensing. (Prof. Hamid Alnaimyi)

The goal of the Physics Laboratories is to provide the appropriate atmosphere for students and staff to conduct experimental work related to practical courses and/or research.

The labs are equipped with the latest technologies, advanced equipment and computing facilities. The teaching staff, lab supervisors and technical staff at the Physics Labs are graduates of renowned institutions and among the best in their respective fields.
